At Lethabo Estate we have two venues for wedding receptions. Set on both sides of The Crocodile River which flows through our 150 acre estate, Lethabo is embraced by the rolling blue Magaliesburg foothills in the Cradle of Humankind just 20 minutes from Fourways and 30 minutes from Pretoria. The Crocodile River flows through the middle of the 150 acre estate which is private and exclusively yours for your wedding reception. Breathtaking views of the Magaliesberg, river valley and Oori game reserve, offer many options of venues for wedding receptions and ceremonies. Both Lethabo wedding venues are unique, offer completely different wedding venue packages and experiences, and so are flexible to suit your unique wedding venue requirements, from large, flamboyant celebrations to small intimate and private self catering wedding receptions.
At the main Lethabo wedding venue, you can exchange your wedding vows under the sweeping willows on the banks of a tranquil open stretch of river on which cormorants and black duck vie for position. You can also exchange your wedding vows under our vaulted, thatched, cathedral like roof or on the spacious deck of our wedding venue reception area overlooking magnificent river and bushveld views.
The elegantly rustic interior of the main wedding venue blends seamlessly onto wooden decks stretching over the dam and river where you can relax with champagne after the wedding ceremony and appreciate the abundant bird life and breathtaking mountain and bushveld views. From the wooden decks overlooking the river, various smaller outdoor venues for wedding receptions and ceremonies abound!. It is a perfect wedding venue for many as 60 to 120 guests, intimate, private and stunning!
At both venues for wedding receptions we offer plenty of varied accommodation for your guests who wish to prolong their stay at the wedding venue. We have 16 rooms which can accommodate your guests ranging from ultra romantic to affordable.
There are 3 costs at the main wedding venue:
1. Our Wedding Venue Hire Fee is R 18000. The venue hire gives you exclusive use of the venue. No other guests or functions are permitted during your wedding. You have use of the venue for the whole day and evening! The venue hire also includes our bridal suite, the gorgeous and unusual Willow Tree Hideaway, a private and enchanting Tree House set in tall reeds under a huge Willow Tree on the banks of a private stretch of river. Also included is the set up of your wedding ceremony area with an outdoor garden style ceremony option next to the river, or an indoor rain option in the beautiful voluminous thatched interior which has a cathedral like ambiance and which overlooks the river. Elegant steel chairs with cushions are set out to your specification. Provided and set up for your wedding reception are options of large wooden tables and smaller round glass tables, elegant steel chairs with cushions, French cut glassware, linen table settings, flowing Grecian style draping for all the outdoor pillars lends an air of old style charm and wedding venue elegance to the wedding venue and venues surrounds, blending soft elegance with the outdoors. Also included are fairy lights, candles, tea lights in pretty small glass holders for the tables which give a fairy tale like atmosphere to the evening celebrations, outdoor fire braziers, a bonfire and outdoor riverside seating area. Indoors, antiques, fine art, fine carpets and elegant furnishings create a warm, eclectic ambiance, a perfect wedding venue for your wedding celebration. We also provide you with your own wedding venue co-ordinator to assist with planning your wedding reception from start to finish and assist you with details. At wedding receptions venues usually charge a fee for draping, but at Lethabo the receptions venues are decorated using our decor. All the ceremony reception requirements are included in the wedding venue hire fee as outlined in the costs below.
2. Our Wedding Venue Menus which start from R 350 per person. These are customised to suit your style and tastes. We are flexible and are happy to custom design menus to suit you. Please view our wedding venue sample menus here.
3. Wedding Venue Service Staff. Waiters are charged per hour. The cost is R 6 per hour per guest for an average of 7 hours from start of wedding to clearing of the last course. This works out to R 42 per guest. The waiters are outsourced from reputable suppliers. They are well trained and very well turned out.
We are flexible regarding bar arrangements. We allow corkage at R 40 per bottle. You can offer your guests anything from a full cash bar, corkage and a cash bar, part tab, corkage and cash bar or you can run a full bar tab at the wedding venue
At our venues for wedding receptions we allow outsourced suppliers, for example wedding venue DJ's and wedding venue florists to arrange wedding venue flowers in the venues for wedding receptions. External wedding venue caterers incur a surcharge of R 60 per head for catering at the main weddin venue. At Die Izindala Farmhouse, there is no self catering surcharge when used as a wedding venue. You are welcome to use outsourced DJ's, Entertainers, Photographers, Flowers and Marriage Officers and are happy to help you source from our database.

Over the 13 years Lethabo Estate's wedding venue has hosted wedding where receptions venues and styles have changed. As a result we decided to expand our venues for wedding receptions to offer our brides more versatility with receptions venues and decor. As such our wedding venues and venues are flexible enough to accommodate current wedding venue styles.
At our wedding venue, our food is a carefully chosen delight, masterfully prepared by wedding venue chef to suit your tastes. We can accommodate you with buffet or plated menus.
Die Izindala Farmhouse, which means recycled things in Zulu, is a fabulous option for small intimate receptions venues which are larger, and have high minimum numbers, are not suited to.
Perfect for second time around wedding ceremonies, the wedding venue has been furnished using old collectable, loved and recycled decor in line with our green and off Eskom's grid, sustainable approach. Six en suite bedrooms, each of which has been themed with recycled treasures lends this old colonial style Farmhouse an elegant and enchanting air, making it a perfect intimate venue for wedding receptions.
Wide stoeps surround the Farmhouse with comfortable outdoor couches. There is a lapa next to the pool with breathtaking views of the Nature Reserve where small ceremonies can be set up as well as a spacious room with French doors leading out to the garden which can be used a a wedding venue chapel in colder weather. It is a perfect wedding venue for small ceremonies!
There is a large kitchen for self catering, if desired of the wedding venue. We also supply our famous gourmet wedding picnics, and breakfast the following morning if required. A lounge with a fireplace and French doors lead out to the gracious wide stoep which surrounds the farmhouse. Comfortable outdoor couches allow wedding venue guests to enjoy the beautiful treed garden with its swimming pool, braai area and lapa which provide gorgeous alternate areas for receptions weddings can be held at. A hilltop fire pit where guests can sit late at night after the party with breathtaking views of the Mountains and river is a great place addition to any wedding venue!
For overnight venues for wedding guests, our six, double themed rooms are charming. We have The Lace Room, reminiscent of days gone by where lace pieces have been collected from old wedding venues and framed. The wedding lace creates an elegant and whimsical feel to the room. The Gift Room is filled with gifted items, recycled cards and gift bags, the perfect venue for wedding gifts to be stored! Beautiful handbags set the scene for The Chic Room. The Rainbow Room features walls painted in traditional ways used by the Sotho and Ndebele and is a celebration of our Rainbow nation. Adorning the walls is beadwork, traditional recycled Zulu hats and literature on the cultures of South Africa. A note on the 11 official languages celebrates our Rainbow Nation and our pride in our cultures and diversity. The Bridle Room is a play on the word, "bridal" and is a tongue in cheek assortment of our old leather martingales and bridles and items of equine bondage combined with beautiful features like a beautiful old Spanish Piano shawl and delicate tassels and drapes. The love Room is separate, has a bath and is the wedding venue Bridal Suite. Each room has a double bed and a single bed "flop spot'' with en suite bathrooms with skylights and with a shower, the 6th room also has a bath for the Bride and Groom to enjoy after the wedding venue has cleared of guests and they can relax and reconnect. In all the rooms in the wedding venue , the beds have stunning wraparound views of the conservancy through double French doors that lead out to their own private stoeps with table and chairs where the other venues for wedding receptions can be viewed from on high. Each room has a very private an intimate feel and as such offers the perfect ambiance for your second time around budget wedding venue.
Lethabo Estate in Lanseria is set on the banks of the Crocodile River, centrally positioned very near Lanseria International Airport, in the Rhenosterspruit Conservancy, and a short commute from Pretoria and Johannesburg.
