Lethabo has two team building venues can be held at. Either our main venue on the banks of the river, with its airy, thatched space and spacious lawns, or, for smaller events, Die Izindala Farmhouse, a charming colonial farmhouse with expansive gardens and stunning wraparound views of the Rhenosterspruit Conservancy and Oori Game Reserve to the North West. On its South Eastern side, it is bordered by the two elite developments, Blair Athol and Monaghan Estates. Chosen for their location by extraordinary beauty of the area and its convenient proximity to Johannesburg and Pretoria.
We have teamed up with a number of reputable suppliers. Affordable Adventures provide activities team building suits perfectly. Willem de Liefde also partners with Lise Essberger with his 'Leadership Governance Navigator' team building aimed at improving leadership skills for team leaders like directors and CEO's. This strategic team building for leadership workshop is run over two days using and teaching the style of Lekgotla.

Horse Play team building at Lethabo Estate, the 'Join Up' Horse Team build. The term 'join up' was coined by the renowned horse expert, Monty Roberts.
Horses have much to teach us. Both predator and prey, we humans long to shine as individuals (a hunter), but we crave the safety and ease offered by the group (herd). Our Equine sessions are mind expanding journeys into our psyche.
During the team dynamic interactions, our beautiful and gracious horses provide a 'mirror' to reflect us as we really are.
We start the session with a one on one, "join up" (a person with NO horse experience can do this successfully. It's very rewarding when the horse walks up to you). Relationship is THE most important thing for horses. It's key to their survival. The workshop covers body language and emotional congruency.
If you are not in touch with your real feelings and act out something else - putting on a happy face when you feel murderous, for example - the horse will know this since they are acutely "tuned in" for their survival. With a horse, if you scream shout and cry, they will move closer and even put their heads on your shoulder, because you are being 'real'. A human who has never been closer to a horse than a television screen can learn to 'horse whisper' or enjoy a deep and meaningful conversation in Equus, the language of the horse. You will learn to connect, communicate one on one and earn the co-operation and trust of these magnificent beings - a soul expanding and emotionally enriching experience.
Team building or herd elements are addressed in the next phase, the Paddock team building exercise, where we take our new 'Join Up' skill into a group activity and then also work individually with the horses.
The basic session takes around four hours. Time becomes a little elastic as when issues come up and it is helpful to work through them immediately. Discussion time afterwards is also important to gain the full benefit from these sessions.

Thank you for a fantastic time and rewarding stay at Lethabo - it's such a beautiful and peaceful environment. The team really enjoyed it as well. The food was delicious and the apple muffins and home baked Italian bread was made in heaven!! The highlight for me though was the "join up" I was scared to bits to be honest. A horse tried to bite me when I was about 10 years old, and ever since I could only admire these wonderful and graceful creatures from a distance.
I have so much respect for horses now, and learned that horses are real about what they experience emotionally (inspired me to do some desktop research), they can't hide it and reflect the state of a rider or person's emotions, in an equestrian article its even mentioned that they sync their heartbeats with a rider's (must say don't know how true this is but after my experience on Friday will easily believe it).
I guess I have a better understanding why the horse ran for such a long time as he merely expressed what I experienced inside - fear!
The most beautiful moment was when the horse brushed up behind me, pressed against me and allowed me touch his neck.
